Statement regarding barrier-free accessibility

Statement regarding barrier-free accessibility

The state capital of Düsseldorf strives to make the online presence and its applications accessible barrier-free. The legal basis for implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council is the German Disability Equality Act (BGG – Behindertengleichstellungsgesetz) and the Ordinance on Barrier-Free Information Technology (BITV – Barrierefreie-Informationstechnik-Verordnung).

This declaration on accessibility applies to www.duesseldorf.de as well as to independent websites underneath this domain (subdomains).

Status of compliance with the BITV requirements

This website is partially compliant with the BITV and will be continuously improved in this regard. A BITV test is planned.

Content that is not barrier-free

  • Generally, accessible PDF documents are made available. However, it cannot be ruled out that occasionally there may be PDF documents that are not barrier-free. In many cases, you will also find this content in text form on our pages. If you come across a PDF document that is not barrier-free and its content is not additionally available at www.duesseldorf.de, please contact us. We will strive to make this content available to you.
  • In general, videos on www.duesseldorf.de are subtitled, unless they are made available by external providers. However, barrier-free accessibility is only partially fulfilled because, due to resource constraints, we only transcribe the spoken word.
  • On www.duesseldorf.de and associated subdomains, occasionally applications are integrated with which municipal services can be applied for electronically. For technical reasons, it is not always possible to implement some of the functions of these applications barrier-free. Currently, content that is not barrier-free includes, in particular, the completed PDFs and/or the PDFs generated as a result of entering information via a wizard/an assistant.
  • It may happen that images and objects do not contain alt texts, that link texts are not intelligible, and that abbreviations and technical terms are not spelled out. In such cases, please contact us so that we can rectify the error.
