New user regulations from 1 January 2017

As from 1 January 2017 Düsseldorf libraries will receive new user regulations in order to implement numerous of  requests and to thus improve our customer service.

Our new regulations:

  • Children and young people may now use the city libraries’ offers free of charge until the age of 21 (today only until the age of 18).
  • The lending period of music CDs and DVDs has now been made consistent with 14 days and may be extended.
  • All media – music CDs as well as movies on DVD and Blue-Ray – may now be reserved and may be ordered either personally, via email, telephone or directly via our convenient online service. Each order or reservation costs 1 EUR.
  • The lending period for magazines (in the branches) is now 14 days.
  • Overdue fines per medium and commenced week increase from 1 EUR to 1.50 EUR. If requested, the city libraries will remind you of the return of books and other media prior to the expiry date of the lending period. For this you simply need to provide us with your email address.
  • The annual fee remains stable at 20 EUR.
