2. Why do I have to get my child preregistered?
The Kita-Navigator is a centralized preregistration system which is used by all publicly funded daycare facilities (in short: Kitas) in Düsseldorf. Here, all children who are looking for a Kita slot are registered and passed on to the preregistered facilities.
3. Do I have to have my child preregistered even though I am already on a waiting list?
Yes, all children who are looking for a Kita slot must be centralized registered and preregistered.
4. How long approximately do I have to wait to get a slot for my child in a childcare facility?
In principle, the waiting time for a slot in a childcare facility depends on the group form, the age of the child and the desired scope of care, as well as on the location of the selected daycare facility and the current regional demand. Therefore, no general statement can be made about the waiting time. You can get further information in the respective daycare facilities or in the i-Punkt Familie.
5. How will I be informed about the status of my preregistration?
You have the option to set up a personal password-protected parent login. Here you can review the status of the respective preregistration at any time. If you do not wish to have a parent login, the communication will take place by post or you will receive an e-mail with the information that you can contact the facility by phone.
6. When will I receive feedback on my preregistration at the latest?
The facility management can contact you immediately as soon as you have preregistered your child. The new groups are being formed in March every year. You will receive feedback until May at the latest.
The information letter with the status of your preregistration will be sent centralized by the Düsseldorf Youth Welfare Office. That means: You will receive a letter with a tabular overview of Kitas selected by you. These facilities could not offer you a slot for the corresponding year. If you are still interested in the selected Kitas, please activate the new preregistration via your parent login. If you do not have a parent login, you can also contact the facility or the i-Punkt Familie by phone. For preregistrations with a parent login, you will receive this information letter online in your parent account.
Note: Please print out the letter in the parent login after opening since it is no longer possible to open it again after closing the file.
7. What if a child needs a slot very urgently?
If you need a Kita slot urgently, the i-Punkt Familie can advise and inform you about the further childcare options. Of course, you can also contact a facility directly.
8. My child is currently attending a childcare for children under 3 years of age (U3), and we are looking for a slot in a childcare for children from 3 years of age (Ü3). Do I then have to register in the Kita-Navigator?
If the facility (Kita, which only offers U3 slots (NOT daycare)), which your child attends, cannot offer a slot for children from 3 years of age, then you have to preregister in the Kita-Navigator anew. It is not about switching to the other Kita. In this case, please do not activate the checkbox "child already attends a facility".
9. My child will not be three years old by October. Can I still have my child preregistered already in August for childcare for children from three years of age?
Yes. All children who turn three by 31.10. of a year can be considered for childcare from the age of three, beginning in August of the same year.
10. In how many Kitas can I put my child on the waiting list or preregister?
The selection is limited to 15 Kitas. Please remember that you do not benefit from being put on the waiting list in countless facilities, because in individual cases you will get to know each other personally in the Kita. Select only the Kitas that are situated within your reach. The selection of your desired Kitas should be arranged in such a way that you always could accept the slot offer.
11. Do the Kitas receive information about whether I have preregistered my child in the other Kitas?
No, no Kita manager can see if and in which other Kitas your child is also preregistered.
12. Is it possible to indicate preferences for a specific Kita?
No, a prioritization is not possible in the Kita-Navigator system. It is assumed that you will only select the Kitas that you are considering. If you are accepted to several Kitas for a year of childcare, please sign the contract for your preferred Kita as soon as possible.
13. Do I have to register beforehand to use the Kita-Navigator?
No, a prior registration is not required to use the Kita-Navigator. A so-called registration will only take place if during the preregistration you choose the contact type "e-mail" and thus you set up a parent login. This final setup of a "parent access" is optional and voluntary.
The alternative to this is the contact type "post".
14. In what order does the preregistration proceed?
First, you search for facilities with specific search criteria that you can specify. Then take a look at the respective profile of a facility and then select it for your child/children. In the end, register your child and yourself.
15. Do I have to get preregistered with the Kitas or is the online preregistration via the Kita-Navigator sufficient?
The online preregistration via the Kita-Navigator is generally sufficient. The Kitas will then contact You. However, you are free to contact the Kita by yourself in order to inquire about a visit appointment or an open day. As a rule, these appointments are also announced in the profile of the respective Kita in the Kita-Navigator. Private-carrier Kitas (e.g., parent initiatives) have additional carrier-specific information about the registration process on the respective website. Please inform yourself there as well.
16. How can I find offers of company-supported childcare?
Please ask your employer if there is a cooperation with a publicly funded Kita, a private commercial facility or a daycare location (Kindertagespflege-Stelle). Preregister with the publicly funded Kita in the Kita-Navigator and additionally contact this Kita to discuss further formalities with the Kita management. If you have a cooperation with a private commercial facility, contact its Kita management directly. If you receive an offer in a daycare location (Kindertagespflege-Stelle), your contact will be the specialized consulting center assigned by the employer.
17. My child will be born soon. Can I still preregister my child?
Basically, yes. Therefore please indicate the expected date of birth according to the mother's record of prenatal and natal care. However, the childcare contract with a facility cannot be concluded until the child is born.
18. With whom do I conclude a childcare contract?
You conclude a childcare contract with the facility that has given you a slot confirmation. The procedure for concluding the contract occurs in the respective facility and depends on the respective carrier.
19. What happens if I get the centralized slot cancellation from the Youth welfare Office?
If you have set up your own parent account during registration, you can set up the new preregistration by yourself. If you do not have parental access, you must call the respective Kitas or the i-Punkt Familie in order to preregister anew. your child/children will then remain in the preregistration system.
20. Will I get a guaranteed Kita slot via the Kita-Navigator?
What is meant here is a preregistration and not a registration. This means that with the preregistration your child will be put on the waiting list of the selected Kita. This waiting list is then the basis for the slot allocation, which occurs according to certain criteria or legal regulations.
The confirmations will be sent starting from the 01.02. of a year and are the sole responsibility of the Kitas.
21. Can I also preregister for a slot in a daycare in the Kita-Navigator?
In the Kita-Navigator you can currently preregister only for a slot in a childcare facility in one of the more than 300 Kitas in Düsseldorf. If you are looking for a private childminder (Tagesmutter or Tagesvater) childcare or a nanny (Kinderfrau/Kindermann), please contact the i-Punkt Familie.
22. Can I also switch a Kita using this system?
Yes, when making a preregistration, the option "previous childcare in a publicly funded facility - ... in a Kita" must be activated if your child already attends a childcare facility.
23. I do not live in Düsseldorf. Can I still get a Kita slot for my child in Düsseldorf?
Usually not. In principle, the Kita slots in Düsseldorf are only primarily available to families domiciled in Düsseldorf (decision of the Düsseldorf City Council). If there is any available capacity in the corresponding Kita, an allocation to families in the surrounding area can be considered an exception if the Kita does not have children on its waiting list for the slot allocation. However, it should be noted that this is only possible from the beginning of the new Kita year (starting in August of each year). A preregistration for this is only possible online.
24. How long will my personal data be stored in the Kita-Navigator?
Of course, your data will be deleted as soon as your child receives a slot in a childcare facility and is no longer on the waiting list of a Kita (data cleansing on the 31.07. of each year). The data is collected exclusively for the allocation of a Kita slot.
25. My child has a developmental delay or (imminent) disability. What kind of childcare options are there for my child?
In principle, your child can be accepted in all kinds of groups.
A special offer is the small curative education group where 8-10 children only with a disability or a developmental delay are taken care of. In these groups, nursing and/or therapeutic staff is employed in addition to the pedagogical staff. As a rule, the curative educational groups are not close to the place of residence. However, it is possible to arrange a car service under certain conditions. For further information, please contact the management of the respective Kita.
26. My child has a developmental delay or (imminent) disability. What do I have to do to get a suitable Kita slot for my child?
Every child, whether with or without a disability/developmental delay, must be preregistered for a slot in a childcare facility via the Kita-Navigator.
Daycare facilities for children are generally there for combined care of children with and without disability/developmental delay.
The individual needs for care and support of a child, the spatial conditions of the facility, the experiences of the teachers or organizational conditions are very different.
In order to clarify the childcare options in the event of a development delay or a (imminent) disability, parents should precociously contact the management of the daycare facility of their choice or the employees of the working group KitaInclusive at the Youth welfare Office at 0211-8923472 or 0211-8923473 or via e-mail.
