The Startup scene of Düsseldorf is surprisingly international. Often talents from abroad set up their business in the region. If you would like to grow and develop your company, you have to be open for international environment. Hiring of talents from abroad might be an advantage for successful and sustainable company development. But how can international specialists be hired? What should be considered and which administrative steps need to be taken? How is cultural diversity shaping an international corporate culture?
During the event a Senior Immigration Consultant from Deloitte GmbH will talk about the legal aspects of international employment management and global mobility management, followed by a manager from Trivago N.V., who will present the corporate culture and employer branding of the company.
Afterwards the international Startup scene of Düsseldorf and the possibilities, to meet other like-minded international entrepreneurs will be introduced. As a best practice example an entrepreneur from China will tell about her experience of setting up a business in the city. After the presentations you will have time for networking and meeting other entrepreneurs.
This Expat Service Event targets HR-managers, startups, which plan to employ international specialists as well as expats who are thinking about setting up a business.

Speakers & Companies
Claudia Thomas is an Immigration Consultant at Deloitte GmbH at the department „Global Employer Services“. She has more than 20 years work experience in the field of international assignments and a comprehensive expertise in dealing with expats. Ms. Thomas supports companies with their inbound as well as with their outbound assignments worldwide.
Trivago N.C. has started some years ago as a startup in Düsseldorf and now is a diverse team of over 1,600 entrepreneurs. The Trivago’s atypical success depends to a large extent on the special corporate culture. Sabine Woller is an Organizational Cultural Lead at Trivago and supports team members on projects relating to company diversity, inclusion, organizational learning, and community engagement. Ms. Woller will introduce the international culture of the company.
The community "Expat-preneurs Düsseldorf" is networking platform for English-speaking expat- (and local) entrepreneurs in Düsseldorf and nearby area. The platform exists since 2017 and gives possibility to get useful information during networking events that gather like-minded people within entrepreneurship scene. Baiba Soika is a founder of the platform and an entrepreneur herself.
Chiway Europe GmbH is a company based in Düsseldorf focusing on employment services and consulting. The company provides services for Chinese companies which are extending their activities in Europe as well as for German entrepreneurs who are interested in doing business in China. Ms. Han Li is the owner of the company and gained an extensive experience in international companies and personnel management.
