Within the scope of its innovation and digitalisation strategy, the Office of Economic Development Düsseldorf puts companies and investors at home and abroad in contact with innovative start-ups and digital trendsetters.
The Office of Economic Development was able to secure the company of Wacom as host for this meeting. Wacom is global market leader for electronic input devices (pens/tablets) and relocated its European head office from Krefeld to the State Capital Düsseldorf last year. 10 Japanese companies from Japan availed themselves of the opportunity to get to know the digital location Düsseldorf and to establish personal contacts with representatives of companies in Düsseldorf.
Following the greeting by Secretary of State Günther Horzetzki, Mayor Thomas Geisel, Hayato Suzuki (Japanese Ministry of Economy, METI) and Robert Marlinghaus (Wacom), companies domiciled in Düsseldorf presented their contributions relating to digital transformation: “Case Studies: Business Opportunities for Companies in the field of ICT and Digitalisation/ Industry 4.0. in Düsseldorf”.
The speakers included represenativives of Vodafone, Renesas, Cumulocity, IOX Lab, M2M Alliance, as well as the Digital Innovation Hub Düsseldorf/Rhineland and the Ministry of Construction, Housing, Urban Development and Transport.
Japanese companies are innovation drivers in many areas and important cooperation partners for the innovation and digitalisation sector at the business location Düsseldorf. Consequently, the Office of Economic Development cultivates an intensive communication between digital companies in Japan und Düsseldorf
Japan is partner country at CEBIT 2017:
Japan is using the partnership with CeBIT 2017 to find out about the latest trends and opportunities of the d!conomy, while presenting its solution approaches and visions at the same time. With a total area of around 7,200 square metres spread over halls 4 and 12, the Japanese country pavilion is the largest in CeBIT’s history. The Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel are expected to officially open the CeBIT in front of more than 2,000 visitors at the Welcome Night on 19 March in hall 9.
