Truely handmade: Mayor Thomas Geisel visited the production site of LUSH on Oct. 12 and met Jason Muller, Global Manufactoring Director.

The British cosmetics manufacturer has been producing at the Segro Park on Bonner Strasse in Benrath since July 2016.

Some 560 people are employed at the Düsseldorf factory, 470 of them in production. The factory, including warehouse and distribution centre, supplies 107 branches in Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Sweden.

Mayor Thomas Geisel is delighted at how things have developed: “The fact that LUSH has decided to settle here shows that Düsseldorf is an outstanding, central  European location, also for manufacturing companies. In the process, LUSH has created 560 new jobs in the city. We will continue to help and support the company wherever we can.”

The company has received wide-ranging support from the municipal Office of Economic Development since 2015 ‒ with its search for a site, help with its planning application and with visa procedures for future employees, as well as with staff recruitment and approvals for production.

Jason Muller, Global Manufacturing Director LUSH: “Having looked at locations for our newest digital fulfilment and manufacturing facilities in Germany, Holland and France, Düsseldorf stood out as the ideal location for Lush in central Europe. With its long history for manufacturing and excellent distribution links to all major markets, the decision was easy in the end. A diverse and beautiful city with quality manufacturing facilities has enabled us to build the new team very quickly with many staff relocating to Dusseldorf to help make this exciting opportunity a success."

Initially, LUSH opened a storage warehouse and customer service department for its online shop on a 6,300 m2-site on Bonner Strasse in the Segro Park. Following the lease of additional space and extensive construction work, production began on a site now measuring over 10,000 m2.
