Senior-Famous New Material (Europe) GmbH founded in Düsseldorf

The Senior-Famous New Material (Europe) GmbH based at Zülpicherstr. 5, 40549 Düsseldorf was founded on 11 December, 2017. The company plans to set up production facilities for separators for lithium-ion cells.

Senior-Famous New Material (Europe) GmbH is a joint venture of the Chinese company Shenzhen Senior Technology Materials Co., Ltd. and the Famous Industrial Group GmbH. The latter’s managing director Prof. Luan will be taking over the management of the new company. The new company aims to set up production facilities for the manufacture of separators with estimated investment costs amounting to between 100 - 150 million euros. Separators are important components of lithium-ion cells. The further development of these cells is a key component in the expansion of e-mobility. This investment depends, however, on the production of lithium-ion cells in Germany which has yet to take place.

About both partners:
The Shenzhen Senior Technology Material Co., Ltd. is a Chinese company which has been successfully manufacturing separators in China for many years. The company was founded in 2003 and has been listed on the stock market in Shenzhen since December 2016. Shenzhen Senior Technology Material Co., Ltd has a share of around 7% in the worldwide production of separators for lithium-ion batteries and is thus the largest manufacturer in China and the fourth largest worldwide.

The second partner, the Famous Industrial Group GmbH, was founded in 1991 and has since been active in building business relationships between China and Germany. Numerous China-related projects have been developed and successfully implemented since the company was founded. The relocation of complete industrial plants from Germany to China has particularly aroused international interest.
