The digital transformation of the economy in Düsseldorf

The digital transformation of the economy plays a key role in the location of new companies from abroad. To summarise the arguments in favour of Düsseldorf as a digital hotspot, the Office of Economic Development has published a new brochure on the subject aimed at attracting international companies.

The English-language publication addresses in particular companies in Europe’s target markets, in North America as well as Japan, China and Korea.  

Düsseldorf has some convincing arguments when it comes to attracting new companies for whom a location’s innovative capability is of importance.  

The city has a vibrant, growing start-up ecosystem which encourages innovation. Partnerships with digital start-ups bring with them synergy effects and are drivers of digital innovation for both large and also small and medium-sized enterprises. The Digital Innovation Hub Düsseldorf/Rheinland facilitates and supports such cooperative arrangements.

Companies in Düsseldorf are already leading the way in terms of providing digital solutions in the technology and service sectors, as shown, for example, in the fields of autonomous driving and ITK.   The high concentration of research-intensive and innovative industrial operations and SMEs in and around Düsseldorf means a high number of potential customers for technology businesses.

Located in the heart of the metropolitan region of the Rhineland, Düsseldorf represents a substantial market (almost 9 million people), including many customers and partners.  

The State Capital can call on a large pool of digital trendsetters in a huge variety of industry sectors. Düsseldorf offers companies and creatives a network of experts with considerable know-how in these sectors, backed up by 50,000 students in the relevant IT subjects at the region’s universities.
